A SUPER-RARE Live version of the "Alone Together" & "Canteen" Legend...

In the summer of 1971, Master Mason re-joined TRAFFIC on stage for the "Canteen" dates... Unbeknownst to many he did a repeat appearance ONCE AGAIN in October 31 at Anaheim (please filter within the channel) the same year... I would also be amiss if I did not mention that he guested on stage with TRAFFIC both in 1972 as well as in 1973, for the former please filter within the channel, as for the latter you have to be patient as my excavations continue...

Goes without saying after releasing "Alone Together" in the summer of 1970, he started to have contractual problems with his label BLUE THUMB...🫆 I will not get into the NITTY GRITTY of the clash between the two parties as well as the chaotic releases of "Headkeeper" in 1972 & "Dave Mason is Alive" in 1973...

I just want to make the point that "Sad & Deep As You" found its place on the 1973 release even though that Live album was recorded at the Troubadour in LA - late in 1971... making this release from 1972 at Claremont College quite HISTORIC... Even though, the composition was officially released in 1970, many TRAFFIC fans consider the "Canteen" version truly CANON due to the UNFORGETTABLE Flute work from Master Wood... In fact, I have already sent a message to GOV'T MULE's Warren Haynes informing him that Randall Bramblett is the GUARDIAN of one of Master Wood's Flutes and that next time he asks Randall to come on stage for "Sad & Deep As You", the jam should feature the LEGEND...

It is also very interesting to point out that the composition was performed Live in the February of 1972 when the GREATEST ROCK BAND on the planet decided to take a break from LIVE performances as Master Winwood had to take his Medical Sabbatical...

As Master Mason recently retired from touring, he leaves behind an amazing catalogue of Live Material...
