Axis 1150 - A pump and glide machine!!!!

Описание: Although we don't often get amazing waves where I am in Oman, we still get conditions that you can foil if you are willing to adapt. One of the skills I've been developing is riding the small lumps that form the shallow shorebreak at my local beach. When it's too shallow to catch waves with a SUP or prone foil because the waves are breaking too close to shore, I resort to jumping off a ladder and pumping around to try to ride any swell that is rolling in. Normally I use the GL240 from Gofoil for this, but having followed the flat water pumping tests done by Devon Manz (AKA Foiling NY) I really wanted to try the Axis 1150 to see how it compared to the GL240. I've got to say that the 1150 exceeded my expectations, and I agree with everything Devon said about this foil's performance. Somehow Axis has managed to design a foil that has better speed and glide than the GL240, but also has a lower stall speed. Usually, the faster the foil is, the higher it's stall speed is, but the 1150 defies this rule. I find it easier to pump than any other foil I've ever used - easier to 'dock' start, easier to recover from a potential stall, easier to keep going over distance/duration, and finally, easily the best glide for any wing of comparable size.
I've used it for wing-dinging in mega light wind as well, and it was amazing - I can get it up on foil earlier and easier than I though possible, and it's glide is just out of this world. It responds soooo well to pumping in this situation as well - downwinding heaven!!!!!
Fuselage length and tails:
For pure flat water pumping I use the standard fuselage. For pumping around connecting small lumps and winging I use the ultra short fuse.
Tails - I use the 420 flat HA tail for all types of pumping as it gives a lot more 'juice' per pump, and for winging I use the 370 tail as it's much, much looser and still has bags of lift.
Has this converted me from GoFoil to Axis? Well, for me the 1150 is definitely a keeper as it noticeably outperforms the GL240, but would I change the rest of my GoFoil quiver? I have my doubts - my love for the NL220 & 160 is strong!!!!! I haven't tried the Axis black series, but if I get the chance to try them I'll keep an open mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!
