Описание: Around 200 low-level Islamic State fighters escape from Syria’s Shaddadi prison after guards from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces leave the facility, a U.S. official says. Syrian government forces later recapture many of the escapees and deploy reinforcements around the area.

The official adds that about 600 foreign Islamic State fighters had been transferred out of Shaddadi before the escape and remain in detention elsewhere. Syrian government forces say they are now in control of the prison, while Damascus and the SDF trade blame over the incident.
