Significant Incidents of Esala are as follows :-

2. Siddhartha Bodhisatva's Great Renunciation
3. The birth of prince Rahula
4. Deliverance of first Dhamma sermon, Dhamma Cakka pawattana Sutta
5. Dahmma and Sangha emerged in this world
6. Performance of Yamamaha pelahara (Twin fold Miracle) under Gandhabba tree.
7. Exposition of Abhidharma to Mathru Divyaraja in heaven.
8. Higher ordained Bhikkhus usually observe rains retreat.
9. First Dhamma council took place.
10. First ordination in Sri Lanka
11. First observance of rains retreat (Vassa)
12. Initiation of Kandyan Procession.
