Sarah and Louise, two former business partners who had a successful ice cream truck in Los Angeles, team up again - this time in frank and honest conversations about all things adoption. Both were adopted shortly after birth, but they had very different experiences.

Each season Sarah and Louise recap a chapter from a book centered on adoption and then interview a guest. Season One broke down THE PRIMAL WOUND by Nancy Newton Verrier, and Season Two tackles JOURNEY OF THE ADOPTED SELF by Betty Jean Lifton.

These will be intimate conversations, but also fun - because Sarah and Louise know how to lighten things up and have a good time. They also have an uncanny ability to get to the heart of a subject with anyone that crosses their path - so conversations will take many turns.

In this episode, Sarah and Louise discuss Chapter One of “Journey of the Adopted Self” by Betty Jean Lifton, and then they speak with Matt Lawson.

As early as he could comprehend it, Matt had always known he was adopted – but he never had the desire to find his birth parents. That is until the birth of his only daughter brought more questions than answers about his health and ancestry. When he received his adoption paperwork from the State of Wisconsin, he discovered that his birth father was never told of the pregnancy. That started 20 + years of searching to finally find the answers he was looking for.
