Tragedy in Danyore, Gilgit-Baltistan
At least 8 volunteers l0st their lives and several others were injured when a landslide struck Manogah Nallah, Danyore, during repair work on drinking and irrigation water channels.
The channels had been severely damaged in the July 22 floods, leaving the area without regular water access for weeks. Residents had taken the task into their own hands to restore the much-needed supply.
Local sources have confirmed the casualties, though official figures are still awaited. Funeral prayers for the deceased were offered early on August 11. Meanwhile, residents continue to face severe water shortages and the aftermath of widespread flood damage.
