Respected chairperson, honourable guests on and off the dais, and my dear friends, It is great to be among friends and kindred spirits. I am here to talk on the topic 'Women Empowerment' on this auspicious occasions of celebrating International Women Day.

Empowering women is the need of the hour. They should be well equipped to meet the emerging challenges of the modern world. Recently I listened to the speech of Christian Lagarde entitled The 3 L's of Empowerment'. Really it is a panacea for the all prob lems faced by the women at present. The three 'L's are Learning, Labour and Leader ship. Education is the foundation upon which any change is built. It is the most powerful weapon to meet the challenges of the modern world. The second L' is Labour. We should uphold the basic norms 'equal pay for equal work'. Equal payment and high security should be ensured in the workplace. Economic independence really empowers them. The third L' is Leadership. When the women are the leaders they are more likely to make decisions based on consensus building, inclusion and compassion. I would like to conclude my words humbly reminding you the African adage 'if you educate a boy, you train a man. If you educate a girl you train a village.

I am much impressed by the speech "The 3 Ls of Empowerment' delivered by Christine Lagarde. No doubt the three Ls, Learning, Labour and leadership, will empower the women to meet the emerging challenges of the modern world. Education is the foundation upon which any change is built. A woman should enjoy economic independence to achieve real empowerment. It is a naked truth that major rules and regulations are framed by a maledominated elite group. It can be made human friendly with the intervention of the women in the lawmaking bodies. As Lagarde observed women are more likely to make decisions based on consensus building, inclusion and compassion. I do believe that the male dominated society can be thrown out with these powerful weapons: learning, labour and leadership.

Myself: Madam, I consider it my privilege to get a chance to speak to an eminent personal ity the first woman to become the Finance Minister of G8 Economy and head the Inter national Monetary Fund. How does it feel to take up such ahuge responsibility?

Madam: I am honoured, Yes it is a great responsibility and each step that I take to fulfill my responsibility, I am cautious that I do justice to everything that I do.

Myself. Who was your greatest support in your political journey and achievement ?
Madam:As I mentioned in my speech, "The 3Ls of empowerment" I was aware of an inner strength that I possessed from my childhood. And talking about my childhood, I'm full of gratitude to my parents who gave me the education of my choice and nurturedstrength that I possess today.

Myself. Do you have any dream projects to be fulfilled?
Madam: I do have a couple of dream projects, which I shall publicise in due time.

Myself. Madam, I represent the plus Two student community of my school. What messege would you convey to my friends?

Madam: You, the teenage youths are living in a wonderful age of opportunities. No walls should stop you in using every opportunity to empower the women community of our society.

Myself :What is your advice to the women of the world?

Madam: See, I would like to stress on what I have mentioned in my speech... Education changes and enlightens society. Be employed, use your potentiality to lead and take up
responsibilities... All the very best. Myself: Thank You, Madam.
