This session aims to explore the elements that impact living well with a blood cancer i.e. building effective partnerships with clinicians and others; learning to apply the components of illness self-managements and an understanding of how to build resilience.
The 2017 Blood Cancer Patient Forum was hosted in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday 9 September by Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Tracy King is a registered nurse with over 20 years’ experience in the field of malignant haematology and blood and marrow transplantation. She is an active member of a range of national and international professional working groups including those of the Cancer Institute NSW; Leukaemia Foundation Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (MSAC); steering committee Myeloma and Related Disease Registry (MRDR); Director of Sydney Blood Cancer Research; Chair of the HSANZ Myeloma Special Practice Network and the Immediate Past President (founding member) of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ) Nurses Group. Most recently Tracy has enrolled to a PhD at Sydney University. Her area of research will be in the experience of those affected by myeloma taking high dose steroids.
