In this video, we solve an important Class 12 level problem from Vectors and 3D Geometry involving direction ratios, perpendicular lines, and equation of a line in 3D.
👉 Problem Statement
Two lines are given as:
l1: (1−x)/3 = (7y−14)/p = (z−7)/2
l2: (7−7x)/3p = (y−5)/1 = (6−z)/5
1️⃣ Find the value of ppp for which the lines l1and l2 are perpendicular.
2️⃣ Find the equation of a line passing through the point
(3, 2, −4)
and parallel to l1.
🔍 Concepts Used
✔ Direction ratios from symmetric form of line
✔ Condition for perpendicular lines using dot product
✔ Vector form and Cartesian form of a line
✔ Parallel lines in 3D space
This problem is solved in a step-by-step manner, with emphasis on:
Correct extraction of direction ratios
Neat mathematical presentation
Board-exam friendly method
