From July 23–25, 2025, Addis Ababa will host Africa’s first-ever Pan-African Chefs Gathering and Policy Convening, organized by AFSA under the "My Food Is African" campaign! This historic event brings together chefs, farmers, policymakers, and food activists to celebrate indigenous cuisine, fight for food sovereignty, and challenge harmful industrial diets.
We asked chefs, advocates and policy makers why this gathering matters, and their powerful reflections are a must-watch. From preserving cultural heritage to building healthier, sustainable food systems, their voices remind us: the future of African food is in our hands.
