This beautiful song was written in 1946 by Barbara Belle, Anita Leonard, Stan Rhodes] and Louis Prima and has been recorded by lots of notable artists over the years but the definitive version is probably Etta James' soulful rendition. Its a classic 32-bar jazz standard song structure bur the melody and chords have a particularly yearning, bluesy quality that Etta James really makes the most of.
I've loved this song ever since I discovered it on an old soul compliation I had when I was quite young and its a satisfying piece to play - everything seems to lead on to the next phrase in just the right way.
