One crash occurred at BC Road in Bantwal taluk, while another unfolded at Panambur signal under Suratkal Police limits.
Early this morning, an Innova car traveling from Bengaluru to Udupi’s Sri Krishna Math lost control near Narayana Guru Circle on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru National Highway. The vehicle crashed, killing three passengers instantly — identified as Ravi, Ramya, and Nanjamma — all residents of Bengaluru. Several others sustained injuries. Locals allege that the unscientific design of the circle contributed to the accident.
Later in the day, at Panambur signal, vehicles waiting at the traffic light were struck by a speeding tanker. The impact triggered a chain collision involving another tanker, a car, and an autorickshaw. The autorickshaw was crushed between two tankers, killing driver Mohammed Kunji, aged 25, and passengers Aboobacker, 65, and Ibrahim, 68. Another passenger, Anand Saneel, was injured and rushed to hospital. Reports suggest the accident began when a cow crossed the road, forcing one tanker to stop suddenly.
Both accidents highlight the dangers of high-speed driving and inadequate traffic management. Citizens are demanding stricter enforcement of road safety measures, speed control for heavy vehicles, and better traffic infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Six lives lost in two separate accidents on the same day — Mangalore mourns, and the call for safer roads grows louder.
