Fishing AT Fontygary , South Wales, which is a new mark for me near Cardiff Wales airport

Описание: Join me as I fish Fontygary over low water on Monday 17th April. Fished 3.5 hrs out , 2.5 hrs in - Tidal range was 10.4 to 2 m (Barry scale)

Fished 5-6 foot pulley pennels , 100 lb body, 80 lb trace with a rotten bottom to combat the rough ground. 6-7 oz leads were fine in the tide and actually used plain leads either side of low

Tried out a dongle rig , to try and prevent deep hooking dogfish, which had been a problem on a previous trip to Ogmore deeps

Baits used were frozen bluey, squid and prawn, supplied by baits for you ltd, Sedbury , Chepstow

A couple of dogfish were caught on the dongle, neatly hooked in the jaw scissors

At least 50 yards of rock ledges were in front of me at 1/2 tide , until it gave away to broken ground. Lost 4 full sets of tackle and a few more leads , so if fishing here be prepared for that if you don't have a good cast - but enjoy this lovely mark on the South Wales coast

For parking, headed towards the Fontygary caravan park, passed under the bridge and parked in the available spaces immediately in front you . No charge

Short walk down the side of the park (behind the buildings) to steps which lead down to the beach - I fished 250 m along the beach from the base of the steps
