Today, Jewish identity remains rooted in those ancient foundations but expresses itself across global communities with extraordinary diversity. Jewish identity can be religious, cultural, familial, or communal — often all at once. Modern misunderstandings often arise when people confuse biblical Israel (the people) with the modern State of Israel (a nation-state). Clarifying this distinction helps reduce harmful assumptions and prevents antisemitism from entering our conversations.
