Lawyers are often at the receiving side of verbal bullets and bombs over defending people whom the common public knows to be "Guilty". There have been instances of mobs attacking lawyers' chambers over representing unliked clients, or people who aren't adored much in the media discourse.
Unlike the common world, a lawyer has a duty to defend and represent people, even if he knows the client to be guilty, as it is the perrogative of Judge, or the Jury, and not him, to decide whether the person accussed i.e his client, had really done the act, or not. Principles of Natural Justice demand that Nobody be condemned unheard, and under the Article 10(A) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, every person is entitled to a free & fair trial for the determination of his rights, and the dispensation of justice and fairness.
Note: The Speaker was an eminent Lawyer of the Indian Supreme Court, a 4 terms Chairman of the Bar Council of India, a Union(Federal) Minister of Law in Indian, and a Member of Six term member of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the Upper and Lower Houses of the Indian Parliament. He passed away on 8th September, 2019 in Delhi.
