The S80 used to be the line-topper of the Volvo sedan line, replacing the 940/960 sedan in 1998. The 2nd Generation S80 ran from the 2006-2016 model years, and was ultimately replaced by the current S90 Flagship from the 2017 model year to present. The S90 was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan in January of 2016. Our car is a 2018 model year and was built not in Sweden, as expected, but rather China in May of 2017, as production was moved from Torslanda to Daqing in mid-2017.
