Yakuza 2 REMAINS Impressive 18 Years Later...

Описание: After the release of the original Yakuza, the team was very proud of what they had put together, and overall happy with what they released. Everyone except for Masayoshi Kikuchi, one of the game’s two producers. He was happy with the game’s success, but also knew that a game’s popularity can be very short-lived if it’s not followed up on quickly. So he went to the game’s other producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, and said that he wanted to release a sequel to Yakuza in just 10 months. Nagoshi was hesitant at first as the first game’s development had already been exhausting enough for the team, but ultimately agreed with Kikuchi and said that they should find a way to make it happen in that timeframe. So the team got to work, and while they missed the initial 10 month window, Yakuza 2 would be released on December 7th 2006, just 1 day before the 1-year anniversary of the original. So would Yakuza 2 be able to meaningfully live up to and build upon its predecessor? Or would this rushed development ultimately hurt the final product? Well, let’s talk about it.

Yakuza 2 is a 2006 action-adventure game developed and published by Sega for the PlayStation 2. The second installment of the Yakuza series and the sequel to Yakuza, it was released on December 7, 2006, in Japan and in September 2008 in North America and Europe. The game focuses on the former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu who receives a request for help from his former group, the Tojo Clan yakuza of eastern Japan, to stabilize relationships with the Omi Alliance group of western Japan. Across Kiryu's journey, he learns of a Korean mafia group linked with both the Omi and his own past, and becomes the rival of the Omi's "Dragon of Kansai", Ryuji Goda.
