During a spontaneous trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, my family and I took an unexpected tour of a relic from the past, a Corvette Flower Class Naval ship.
Little did I know that this unexpected visit would be like stepping into the past, in a era where young sailors faced life and death situations, on a moment by moment experience. Prop-ups created a near to life authentic experience of what life on one of these vessels was like during war time. Corvette class vessels played a primary role as convoy escorts in the war effort of the North Atlantic Ocean. Corvette's wear the protectors of the supply fleets crossing the North Atlantic Ocean. The Corvettes main purpose were to hunt down and destroy German submarine U-boats.
