In part 4 of Britain's Forgotten Railway Town, we look at the former Haydock Colliery Branch, which ran through the heart of Earlestown and was the first actual railway in Newton le Willows.
Originally a horse drawn tramway opened in 1825, it was incorporated into the new Warrington And Newton Railway which opened in 1831 and gave rail access to the Richard Evans and Co collieries.
