鸡仔饼是广东广州地区汉族传统饼类名小吃,广东四大名饼之一,原名“小凤饼”,清代咸丰年间广州西关姓伍的富家有一名叫小凤的女工所创制。因人们美称“鸡”为“凤”,而它的商标是以“小鸡”为记,而“小鸡”广州人俗称“鸡仔”,故名。今以顺德桂容马岗村生产的最为著名。
"Ji Zai Bing" is a traditional Chinese pastry snack from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is one of the four famous pastries of Guangdong and was originally called "Xiao Feng Bing." Legend has it that it was created by a maid named Xiao Feng, who worked for a wealthy family surnamed Wu in Guangzhou during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty. Because people often refer to "chickens" as "phoenixes" as a term of endearment, and the trademark of the pastry features a small chick, which is called "Ji Zai" in Cantonese, the pastry was thus named. Today, the most famous Ji Zai Bing is produced in Ma Gang Village, Shunde.
