We had IKEA clothes stand called KROKIG (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/krokig-c..., but we needed more space to hang their clothes.
We thought of getting 4 of IKEA TJUSIG wall mount hangers (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tjusig-h.... Although it is sold AU$16.99 per item, I thought it could be easily made from reclaimed wood that I had in my garage.
Here is how I made my IKEA TJUSIG Inspired Clothes Hanger from Reclaimed Wood.
1. Chose most straight looking timbers
2. Rip them to 30mm x 30 mm stock using a table saw
3. Crosscut all pieces to required length with a crosscut sled
4. Sanded everything to 120 grit using a belt sander and then to 180 grit using a random orbit sander
5. Made 45 degrees mitre cut to the side “branch” pieces using a mitre cut sled (mitre saw could work fine too), carefully choosing which side should be the better looking face and making sure that you have an equal number of left and right branches.
6. Made pocket holes to the branch pieces and mounting pieces using Kreg Pocket Hole Jig
7. Attached the branch pieces using glue and pocket hole screws
8. Attached mounting pieces using glue and pocket hole screws
9. Applied 2 coats of water-based polyurethane finish
10. Changed plan to use white paint coated L brackets instead of having a backing board like how it was shown on the first diagram as the management wanted to have a less bulky look. Enlarged L brackets’ mounting holes so that they could accommodate plastic sleeves for screwing to the gyprock wall
11. Fixed the L brackets to the wall first
12. Mounted the hangers to the L brackets using square top screws as they had to be driven without a lot of force applied to from above (it is too narrow for my impact driver to fit between the wall and the hangers)
