'Staggering': 5 men indicted for massive drug trafficking ring connected to Seattle encampments

Описание: Federal prosecutors announced the indictment of five members of a drug trafficking organization known as "the Jungle," which is believed to be responsible for much of the narcotics trade in Seattle's Chinatown-International District.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Mike Herrington announced the charges alongside federal and local leaders at a press conference in Hing Hay Park Wednesday morning.

"This organization took advantage of many people's addictions, homelessness, and other vulnerabilities, often using violence or threats of violence," Harrington said.

According to prosecutors, the investigation began in the fall of 2023 when Seattle police began working with the FBI to look into the drug trade around 12th and Jackson, an area that is known for rampant drug use and the sale of stolen goods.
