Description: This webinar aims to explore shared decision making in tracheostomy care across different stages of the tracheostomy care journey. Our multiprofessional and family panel will define the concept of ‘shared decision making’ from different perspectives and discuss decision considerations, needs, and processes for tracheostomy placement. We will identify and understand readiness for decisions about discharge home from hospital and examine how to incorporate the long-term trajectory of outcomes, rehabilitation needs, and quality of life considerations into decision making. Through these discussions, we aim to provide practical strategies to support collaborative, informed decisions that optimize outcomes for patients and families.
