Many Czech learners struggle to understand the use of reflexive verbs - those verbs that contain "se" and "si". In this video, I am going to explain the different functions of se and si by dividing them into 6 categories, each with a few examples. There will be a second part of the video next Thursday.

Summary:
1️⃣ Obligatory SE/SI, certain verbs do not exist without SE/SI (e.g. ptát se, pamatovat si)
2️⃣ Adding SE/SI to a verb specifies the meaning (mýt + object x mýt se - NO object x mýt si + object)
3️⃣ Adding SE/SI to a verb changes the meaning (ztratit + object x ztratit se)
4️⃣ SE/SI for reciprocity (=each other) (znát se, vidět se)
5️⃣ SE for reflexive passive voice (Hledá se pes.)
6️⃣ Optional SI for personal emphasis (zpívat si)
