Boomerang is a high-performance JavaScript library for Real User Measurement (RUM) that has been actively developed for nearly 15 years, originating at Yahoo Engineering. RUM has never been more important, as it captures the actual user experience, offering insights that synthetic testing cannot. Co-authored by Philip during the early years, its core function is to accurately measure the page load time and performance metrics experienced by real users globally.
