Addressing the gathering, PM Modi termed the event a 'Vikas Utsav' (Festival of Development) and requested the audience to switch on their mobile flashlights to mark the occasion. He also unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi. The Prime Minister criticized previous Congress governments for neglecting the North East, stating, 'For Congress governments, the development of Assam and the North East was never on their agenda.' He highlighted that his government has prioritized the region's connectivity and growth over the last 11 years. Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and MoS Pabitra Margherita were also present.
