My 1989 Ford Escort XR3i in Western Australia - UK Export From New

Here’s a video about my MK4 1989 Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet, which I purchased from someone in NSW, Australia, and shipped to Perth, Western Australia.

The car has never been on UK roads. It was purchased brand new in 1989 and exported to Malaysia, where it stayed for two years. Then, in 1991, the owner moved to Victoria, Australia, and shipped the car with her, where it was hardly used. I purchased it 18 months ago from NSW and had it shipped to Western Australia.

When the car was delivered to me in 2023, it was unregistered, the paint was slightly oxidized, it had rubbish steel wheels, and a few other issues.
I fixed it up, polished and restored the paintwork, and then took it to the DOT inspection pits, where it passed. After that, I took the pass certificate to the DOT centre to get it registered for the road and issued a new license plate.

I originally purchased this car to sell, but I ended up loving it too much to let it go. I’ve enjoyed driving it around and reliving the nostalgia, as I had a few of these cars in my 20s during the 1990s. However, I now think it’s time to sell.
