Early spring camp using military gear. Dutch army bivvi, British army Basha shelter.

Описание: This video was filmed in early spring in a location in North Yorkshire. I decided against camping where I’d initially planned. I didn’t feel comfortable camping amongst ‘keep out’ signs. The land owners obviously don’t want people in there. So fair enough really.
It took another couple of hours of bushwhacking to eventually find somewhere to pitch up, and I was literally about to call it when I found this spot. I didn’t include the full search as the video would have been far too long. I even waded across a stream, but what I eventually found was a great little spot. I would definitely camp there again.
I had an encounter with a rather large heron, which unfortunately I barely managed to capture on film. I cooked a Goan curry in a German military mess kit, and using a Trangia meths burner. Unfortunately missing out one crucial ingredient, but it tasted lovely all the same. The kit included a British army Basha tarp, a Dutch army bivvi bag, the British army ‘medium weight’ sleeping bag. All laid on a German army ‘Bundeswehr’ elephant skin ground sheet. For cooking, the Bundeswehr three piece mess kit, which was excellent. All carried in German army webbing belt and pouches.
