I made this pocket oratory or shrine after seeing some online. I like that you can carry them about when traveling around. I see them like carrying a talisman or amulet to help give one courage and focus. From the inter webs: "The pocket oratory was made popular in the 1800's as a type of traveling altar. It was used much as they are today, by workers and travelers who may not be close to a Church when they'd like to pray."
I am not a great sewer or embroiderer. I used fake leather from the fabric store, A St. Michael medal and I made some small prayer cards. Off white felt with hand embroidery in green.
