I've been searching high and low for an off the shelf DRO that can simply bolt onto my Sealey SM2503, but I wasn't able to find anything.
After much research I decided to purchase a generic M503 magnetic position sensor from Aliexpress and devise a way to attach it to the lathe. I came up with a 3D printable design that mounts to the existing gib screw holes. Each mount is secured in place with brass washers - which hold the mounts in place using compression, whilst ensuring gibs are fully secure against the body of each component as per the stock setup.
So far this design is working really well, and I'm able to make more accurate and repeatable cuts more easily than before (so much backlash on the cross slide handle!).
