Why it’s time to rethink in-flight connectivity beyond speed | Viasat

Описание: A new report from the MIT Sloan School of Management challenges one of business aviation’s longest-standing assumptions: that peak network speed alone defines in-flight connectivity performance.

The study, produced in collaboration with Viasat, calls for a radical new framework based on Quality of Experience (QoE). Instead of focusing on peak Mbps, it recommends a broader range of metrics that evaluate whether passengers can seamlessly accomplish their objectives - from secure video calls to real-time collaboration – with the findings presented in a simple, easy to understand way. And that's exactly what Viasat is doing with the new iQe concept for our JetXP in-flight broadband service.

“It’s time to move beyond measuring speed,” MIT’s Michael Schrage explains in this short video from #NBAA2025. “QoE integrates performance, consistency and reliability - turning connectivity data into insight about the passenger experience itself.”
