A fantastic overnight camp with Robert ( / @murchiesmountains2820 ) In Loch Ard Forest, deep in the heart of the Trossachs.
After a bit of an arduous trek we eventually found a beautiful peaceful oasis near the base of Ben Lomond on Duchray Water to while away the hours.
Loch Ard Forest is a large forest located in the Trossachs region of Scotland. It covers an area of approximately 16,500 hectares and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
The forest is situated on the eastern side of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, which is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The forest is managed by Forestry and Land Scotland, which is responsible for maintaining the forest and ensuring that it remains a sustainable resource for future generations.
The forest offers a range of recreational activities, including hiking, cycling, and wildlife watching. There are several walking trails that lead through the forest, including the Loch Ard Family Trail, which is suitable for all ages and abilities.
The forest is also home to several important archaeological sites, including the remains of a medieval castle and a crannog, which is an ancient settlement built on a man-made island in a loch. These sites provide a fascinating insight into the history of the area and are well worth a visit.
Overall, Loch Ard Forest is a beautiful and peaceful place to explore, offering visitors the chance to connect with nature and learn more about the history and culture of Scotland.
