From 'Live at Thing-A-Me-Jig Club', recorded on September 6, 1968 in Reading, England. The Iveys cover 'Walk Away Renée', which was written by Michael Brown, Bob Calilli, and Tony Sansone for the band The Left Banke, released as a single in July 1966. Michael Brown's father Harry Lookofsky plays violin on the original as well as produces the song. Harry was also the band's Manager. 'Walk Away Renée' is known as thee Baroque Pop song of Baroque Pop songs. It had a huge impact on the Beatles when they worked on Sgt. Pepper's, as well as being covered by The Four Tops. 'Walk Away Renée' is one of three songs that were inspired by ballerina and singer Renée Fladen, who was dating one of the band members Tom Finn. She was the object of Michael Brown's affections. The other two songs Renée inspired were, 'She May Call You Up Tonight 'and 'Pretty Ballerina.' In 2005 Rolling Stone Magazine placed 'Walk Away Renée' at 220 in the 500 greatest songs of all time. Dan Matovina was a massive fan of The Left Banke and was very appreciative that this was captured on tape. Unfortunately, the first part of the song wasn't recorded here for this show.
