Microwave Biosensors for Label-Free Bacteria Detection
This talk presents recent advances in microwave biosensors for label-free bacteria detection. The discussed sensors are functionalized with specific bio-layers to achieve both high sensitivity and selectivity. Demonstrator devices were designed, fabricated using diverse technologies, and experimentally validated. The results confirm their potential for biomedical applications, including the detection of E. coli at concentrations as low as 100 CFU/ml.
🎓 Ilona Piekarz is an Associate Professor at AGH University of Krakow and a long-time member of the Microwave Research Group. She brings deep expertise in microwave networks, sensor design, and real-world applications across biomedical and agricultural domains.
She’s also an active contributor to the community: Chair of hashtag#URSI Commission A (Poland), reviewer for top hashtag#IEEE journals, and part of the technical teams behind hashtag#EuMW, hashtag#IMS, and hashtag#MIKON.
