First, I'll start by giving you a brief overview of what event tracking is and why it's so important. From there, I'll dive into the four types of events you need to be tracking: Automatic Events, Enhanced Measurement Events, Recommended Events, and custom events. For each type of event, I'll explain what it is, why it's important, and how to set it up in Google Analytics 4.
1.Automatic events: Automatic events are tracked by default in Google Analytics 4 and do not require any additional setup. These events include page views, scrolling, video views, and outbound link clicks. For example, when a user lands on a page on your website, Google Analytics 4 will automatically track a page view event.
2.Enhanced measurement events: Enhanced measurement events are a set of events that can be enabled in Google Analytics 4 to track additional user interactions with your website or app. These events include file downloads, video engagement, site search, and scroll depth. For example, you can use enhanced measurement events to track when a user searches for a specific term on your website.
3.Recommended events: Recommended events are a set of events suggested by Google Analytics 4 based on the industry and category of your website or app. These events can be enabled with just a few clicks and can provide valuable insights into user behavior. Some examples of recommended events include button clicks, form submissions, and product detail views.
4.Custom events: Custom events allow you to track specific user interactions with your website or app that are not covered by automatic or recommended events. You can create custom events with specific parameters to track any user action, such as clicks on a particular button or interactions with a specific element on your website. For example, you can create a custom event to track when a user clicks on the "Add to Cart" button on your website.
Finally, I'll cover custom events, which are events that you define yourself based on your specific business goals. I'll explain how to set up custom events in Google Analytics 4, and how to use them to track any action that's important to your business, whether it's a button click, a video view, or a purchase.
By the end of this video, you'll have a solid understanding of the four types of events you need to be tracking in Google Analytics 4, and how to set them up for your website. You'll be able to use this information to make data-driven decisions that will help you optimize your website, increase your conversions, and grow your business.
