When the intensity-wavelength curve was tried to be explained by Rayleigh and Jeans using Classical Physics, the effort went in vain. But Max Planck assumed an entirely new thing and explained the curve theoretically. He assumed the energy is quantized and the minimum energy radiated by an oscillating source is the product of the Planck's constant and the frequency of that oscillator.
