On this episode, we spend the next four days exploring the beautiful island of Koh Samui and the surrounding area.
We arrived late at night when the tide was high but took advantage the next day when the tide was really low. We walked out to the sandbar and enjoyed the perfect water temp, which cooled our bodies from the hot sun.

We walked the beach and found several places for cold beverages, people-watching, and a chill vibe. In fact, we liked the one place we found so much that we asked them if we could have front-row seats at their fire show that night, and it did not disappoint. The fire performer was very entertaining to watch. The way he twirled the fire had us all mesmerized.
The next day we went with our guide and boat out to Pig Island, about a 20-minute boat ride. We got there early, and I am really glad we did because when we arrived, we were one of the very few people there. However, as the day went on, it got busier.

Pig Island was just ok. Not at all what we expected. Although the boat ride and the island were beautiful, I am not sure why people actually want to see and feed the pigs. They aren't nice and can be aggressive. One bit me when I put the food down, and another stepped on my foot. River and I liked the puppies the most, however.

We left Pig Island just in time for all the other tourists to arrive, and we attempted to snorkel. However, the current was crazy fast, and the visibility was terrible, so we decided to quit and go eat lunch, where we got attacked by tons of nats.

We, of course, had to visit the temples, to my family's dismay. The first temple was gorgeous, and I am really glad we went to it. River and Des enjoyed feeding the massive carp; the temple was beautifully colored and enjoyable to walk around.

From there, we walked for 20 minutes in the hot, sticky sun to the large Buddha. We were ill-impressed with this second temple because there was nothing there except a Buddha at the top of a bunch of stairs. It was not worth the long, hot walk. But after, we found a great place to eat with a nice breeze to cool us off and Corona!

That afternoon, we decided to take the kids out on jet skis for a bit of fun. Des and I rode on one, and Joel and River rode on another. We had a BLAST! Des and I laughed so hard jumping waves. I asked him if he wanted to drive, but he declined. However, River drove for a bit, and the look on her face was hilarious. A word of caution: we were warned that sometimes the jet ski companies can scam tourists by saying they damaged the jet ski. So we made sure that we pointed out any damage before we left the shore, but we didn't have any problems with the guys we rented from.

I also highly recommend getting massages on the beach. I went twice, and it was interesting but wonderful. The place I went to was right down from our hotel and was under a pagoda. Several people were lying there getting massages, pedicures, etc. You do have to take your top off and possibly your bottoms. So I highly recommend something easily removable without having to flash the people around. Swimsuit top and bottoms work well.

We found an excellent place for dinner, The Onion Restaurant. We liked it so much that we returned twice and had great food and great service. The atmosphere was fun and enjoyable.

After a quick four days, it was time to pack up and head to our next island, Koh Tao, and we fell in LOVE, so stay tuned for that episode!
