SIM Binding Rule Implemented - Jio, Airtel, Vi & BSNL. Effective March 1, 2026, India implemented mandatory SIM binding for OTT messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, JioChat) under Telecom Cyber Security Rules, 2024. The rule requires the registered SIM to be active in the device to operate apps, targeting reduced cyber fraud. Web/desktop sessions must log out every six hours.
