The police intervention in Piravom Church turns violent as the Jacobite faction closed the gate of the church barring the entry of police. Some of the Jacobite devotees tossed themselves with kerosene and threatened to ablaze themselves. A couple of weeks back, SC had ruled that the Valiya Palli belongs to the Malankara Orthodox faction. The dispute between the Orthodox and Jacobite factions dates back to 1908.
