Catasetum Spring Updates | My Winter Care - Coming Out of Dormancy | Buds, Growths, Roots and Mites

Today we are getting up and close with my catasetum-type orchids, or at least the ones coming out of dormancy!

I never fully stopped watering these guys, simply because in my orchid room they stay nice and warm and bright, and I think they enjoyed getting a bit of moisture through dormancy. This isn't a how-to video, I'm new to these and this is my first dormancy. General advice for these is to keep them dry through dormancy, and withhold water until roots are several inches down into the pot. Instead, I watered a little and let them dry between waterings. It doesn't seem to have caused any issues, and I would say they are doing quite well!

My experiences so far: Many kept leaves through dormancy and are only now dropping them. They all kept their roots, and many branched them or made new roots even without new growths. So it appears mine didn't all go into a deep dormancy, and that they were still taking up and using water and nutrients.
