Many young drivers continue to die on our roads. Our response to this tragedy has placed more barriers to young people being able to drive. These requirements, though well-intentioned, have unintended consequences - hitting economically disadvantaged people in regional communities the hardest, leading to crime. Susie Delaporte recognised these problems, then helped implement a programme to address them - improving road safety, mobility, economic access, and changing lives. Over fifteen years working with vulnerable people, Susie Delaporte has implemented practical solutions to address complex, underlying issues of accessibility for youth in regional Western Australia. She is a strong advocate for young people who face systemic barriers, and is a psychology graduate. Susie is a Senior Community Development Officer at the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup.
