Описание: Leicester train station was refurbished in 2012 at the cost of 6m pounds. I think they did a good job at creating a more welcoming, modern entrance in this listed building. The new layout is fine for pedestrians, and great if you are a blue badge holder or taking a cab, however the cycle access and storage are far from being "user-friendly" and rather limited in capacity considering the vast amount of space available. The vertical racks are not popular, so the railings fill up first. My bike just tips backwards when placed front wheel up, making it very difficult to secure and is presumably why some cyclists invert their bikes. Since the video was taken, the drop kerb along the A6 (old vehicular entrance where plastic temporary barriers were used) has been removed making cycle access more difficult. You now have to dismount in the narrow bus lane and one wonders why the designers did not retain a short section of drop kerb and add bollards to prevent motor vehicle access. In addition, approaching from the south along the London Road you can use 3 of the 4 crossings as a cyclist as these are toucans but the final leg is pedestrian only. If you can lift your bike, the stairs are not too much of a hindrance to accessing the storage area, but if not you have to wheel it along the narrow ramp thereby conflicting with pedestrians at busy times or ride all the way round to the far entrance and go in with the motor vehicles. This all suggests insufficient consideration/consultation of cyclists by the developers.
