Zane Massey is the son of the legendary trumpeter Cal Massey who worked with and wrote music for John Coltrane, Freddie hubbard and many others. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York surrounded by jazz. Zane himself was a member of Ronald Shannon Jackson's decoding society, performed and recorded with Roy Campbell and released two records under his own name for the Delmark label.
New Zealand guitarist Matthew Mitchell is based in Dortmund and Budapest and has worked all over the world in a vast array of genres including contemporary jazz, free jazz, African music, Indian classical music, new contemporary music and electronica.
