Scanning the Splatoon 1 Inkling amiibo into Splatoon 2 unlocks gear and allows you to date- er, sorry, pose for photos with your amiibo! You can also save loadouts and settings to an amiibo figure so that they're instantly loaded when you tap the amiibo onto your controller.
The recoloured Inklings appear in-game with the correct colours but unlock the same gear. If you've already gotten the gear you won't unlock duplicates.
