This is the biggest success in the history of Ghana, but of course we are sad after this match. We deserved to go through. We had the opportunity to qualify for the semi finals and to be amongst the best four teams in the world and I think Ghana deserve that."

STORYLINE:
Ghana's national football team paid their respects to Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on Saturday, the day after they were beaten by Uruguay and knocked out of the FIFA World Cup.
Ghana was the only African team in the tournament to make it to the quarterfinals and football fans across the continent were hoping to see the side advance to the semis.
South African fans started rallying behind Ghana after their own team was knocked out in the group stage.
Arriving in Soweto on the team bus, the players from Ghana were greeted by bystanders who cheered and applauded their arrival.
Ghana lost out 4-2 on penalties to Uruguay after their quarter final match finished 1-1 in extra time at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Ghana players spent almost 30 minutes inside Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's house on Saturday.
On exiting the house, they were once again mobbed by local well-wishers, everyone wanting to have their photograph taken with the team known as the Black Stars.
For some of the players, meeting Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the ex wife of former President Nelson Mandela, was a great privilege.
"She advised our life, our family, our future," said goalkeeper Richard Kingson.
On leaving Madikizela-Mandela's house in Soweto, the team headed across Johannesburg for a meeting with Nelson Mandela.
