Hong Kong's MTR railway system is considered one of the best in the world, moving more than half the city’s population daily. It has been praised for its safety and punctuality, and in 2023 completed 99.9 per cent of its passenger journeys on time. For 45 years, the iconic transport network has been a crucial lifeline for the city. As the MTR celebrates its anniversary, the Post visited one of its nine train depots and the Operations Control Centre in Tsing Yi which functions as the "brain" overseeing complex railway services.
