In the winter of 1963, the ice was laying so thick in the Gothenburg archipelago that cars could drive between the islands and mainland. A fine reminder of what winters could be like in the old, cold days and an obvious testimony of how our climate has changed during the past decades.
The lady fishing is Furetank CEO Lars Höglund’s mother Gun fixing fresh dinner for the family, stopping by the fishing sheds to say hi to Erik and Claes Fhager. (Fun fact: both father and son worked on Furetank vessels. Claes later started Donsö shipping company Kiltank together with his sons 🙂 )
Families took their leisurely Sunday strolls on the ice: here Lars with mother, sister and grandparents. Since boats were a no-go for some months, the kicksled was a good alternative. Or why not take the horse?
