The Medford Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has sold the public forests known as the "Last Chance" timber sale to Murphy Timber Company. While BLM biologists mark large, healthy trees as "leave trees" for wildlife retention and forest health, the BLM bypasses the scientists' orders through logging loopholes to fill the pockets of their timber industry buddies.
Although the Murphy Timber Company filed a legal declaration telling the court that they would not start logging until April, they have defied that order and ancient trees are coming down now as they punch 28 miles of new logging roads through these public lands.
