Shapeoko Pro Testing at 300 IPM & Updated Climbing Hold

For this video I spent the better part of a day making test cuts to develop a new cut recipe for my new 3/8" carbide tooling. In my haste I managed to crash not once but twice. No injuries or expensive things were broken but I definitely learned two valuable lessons.

1. Don't have ass your programming especially when you're running fast. I have been doing quick and simple programming up until this point and today it bit me in the part and the ass.

2. Don't operate heavy machinery when drowsy. At the end of the testing is when I made the climbing hold and I was too tired to be alert and hit the E-stop when I should have. I should have walked away, gotten a drink of water, rested my eyes, something. Be smarter than me and only push go when you are alert enough to push stop.

All in all I hit a new record speed for cutting on the machine at 300 ipm, 1.5" DOC, and .05" WOC. All in all I'm quite excited my this prospect and plan on using this tooling for the climbing holds going forward to knock them out nice and quick. Thanks for watching!

My name is Austin and I’ve always enjoyed building things.
