Dominique Pelicot has been found guilty and
sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his wife
Gisèle, and inviting over 70 men to rape her
over the course of a decade.
In total, 51 co-defendants have been found guilty
of the charges against them, including some who
pleaded not guilty.
From 2011 to 2020, the 72-year-old French man
secretly gave his wife sleeping pills and prescription
medication, in doses to render her unconscious, and invited men he had spoken to online
to assault her in the couple’s home.
After a trial which began over three months ago,
50 co-defendants received sentences ranging from
three to 15 years.
